Nursing staff from all over the world make vital contributions to the UK’s health and care services every day, but UK government proposals to overhaul the Indefinite Leave to Remain system fail to recognise the value these staff bring.

Many internationally educated nursing staff could leave the UK because of these proposals and others may decide not to come here for work. This will deepen the nursing workforce crisis and threaten patient care.

We are lobbying the UK government to ensure that all nursing staff continue to be eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain after five years, as well as calling for other changes to the proposals.
