Support the #ProtectNurse Campaign

Nursing is a safety-critical profession, and the title of "nurse" must be protected along with the knowledge, professionalism, and clinical expertise that brings.

Patients deserve to know that when they are being treated by a registered nurse.

Dawn Butler MP has introducted a Ten Minute Rule Bill in Parliament that seeks to legally protect the title "nurse". If this bill passes, only people registered as nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council would be permitted to call themselves a "nurse" while working in health and social care.

It is important that the UK government and all political parties support this Bill. Alongside the RCN you can call on your MP to support this Bill. To progress and pass it needs time for debate and action.

Write to your MP today and urge them to protect patient safety. Only registered nurses should be legally allowed to use the title "nurse".
